Isreal Adesanya regains the middleweight title in the UFC after defeating Alex Pereira (video).

In the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 287 event, Israel Adesanya defeated Alex Pereira to reclaim the UFC middleweight belt.

On Sunday morning, April 9, the Nigerian-born New Zealander defeated the Brazilian in the fourth minute of the second round at the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida.

After losing three of his first three fights with Pereira, Adesanya entered UFC 287.

He was eliminated in round five of a fight he was winning at UFC 281, which was the first time the middleweight duo had met in MMA. Before the fight, Pereira won a disputed unanimous decision to end Adesanya’s 12-fight kickboxing win streak, prompting a rematch.

Adesnaya was brutally beaten on the canvas by Pereira a year later, and he later needed oxygen to regain consciousness.

I didn’t mess around in this camp. If you know me, you know that I like to take vacations, but I didn’t stop working hard.

“You can see it on FREESTYLEBENDER on YouTube—I’ve been putting myself through it. I put in the work, not my highlights, on [Instagram]

“I get drained so that when I get in here, I don’t get worn out.”

Adesanya’s 24th victory in his career in mixed martial arts (MMA) came against Pereira.
