A power surge-related fire that destroyed a portion of the Ooni of Ife palace has been identified.
At around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, just after the electrical equipment in the impacted apartment burst, the palace’s courtyard was completely destroyed by fire.
The fire was put out, according to reports, with the help of the fire department, royal staff, and locals.
The situation has been stabilized, according to Otunba Moses Olafare, the palace spokesperson.
